Private school....why dont they let you paint your nails?

ok i go to a private school and i have to wear a skirt and stuff! i hate it the uniforms make me look like a clown! anyways....if any of you know why we cant paint our nails then please tell me cuz it is soo stupidPrivate school....why dont they let you paint your nails?

I honestly don't know -- thats a really dumb rule, they are trying to act like nail polish is going to effect the way you act or how well you do in school. Anyways, if you really want to wear nail polish, try painting your nails clear. Or paint them on the weekends when you get home from school on Friday, then take the nail polish off on Sunday night or something. I don't know, thats a really dumb rule -- sorry :(
The only thing I can think of is that they dont want anyone to focus on someone else or be jelous. They dont want people to feel left out if someone went to the salon to get them done versus someone who painted them at home. Try just painting them clear or on the weekends. I know when I went to private school you couldnt paint your nails, color your hair, or wear make up unless you payed more or gave more to the school. How unfair! Hope this helps! Goood luck!
At my school they didn't let us paint our nails when we had cookery because our nail varnish might chip into the food, but my teacher always said it was ok, as long as it was fresh.





I think that they thing that having plain nails looks more formal...





Do a french manicure (white tips) if you want to rebel without getting into trouble :D

personally i think thats retarded... my mom teaches at a catholic school and its sooo gay! they dont let u paint ur nails.... or dye hair or.... have makeup! i think kids need to be independent and let them express themselves.....





ohh and in thats school if u wear anything thats not allowed....

i would NEVER go to a private school!
well it depeneds on the color usually, if your nails are bright red, then that's a NO NO, but if they are a soft pink, then they might let you slide, do soft colors, not anything bright :)

I don't know its really stupid! At my old school, we could not wear any nail polish or makeup. But now that I'm in high school, which is still private, we can wear whatever nail polish we want and any makeup we want!
Because they want to avoid any kind of superficial discrimination i think. Its stupid. Thats why i hate private schools. They just want to fully control you
The reason they do it is because those private school fuddy duddys think that colored nails look trashy, thats it. Plain nails are more presentable in their minds.

Why can't we paint our nails, huh? I guess it's a school tradition to make your nails short and colorless or something. It's supposed to look neat. But we're not allowed to paint our nails, put on make-up or dye our hair too. You're not the only one.





In fact, just stop complaining about that. My school doesn't let us bring penknives. Uh huh. And our scissors can't be too big, either. We can't bring magazines, comics, hand phones, CDs. We even have to let those prefects inspect our wrapped birthday presents!





And guess what? Once, I got FINED for wearing DARK BLUE instead of BLACK socks. How dumb is that? And for sports, we must wear WHITE socks or we'll get fined. And we have to change back to our school uniform before our first recess our we'll get fined, too.





If your sports shoes are BLACK (just like our normal school shoes), sometimes the prefects will ask you to show them both shoes, so they know you're not cheating by having only one pair. That happened to me before.





And, they fine you for long fingernails. If they see a little bit of that white part on 4 of your fingernails, they'll fine you. And we have to wear our student ID cards wherever we go or we'll get fined too. And we have to make sure they are horizontal, always facing front.





Ear rings can only be one on each ear, and can't be dangling ones. They have to be less than the diameter of a pencil. No other jewelry like necklaces, bracelets or whatever. We can't even put our rubber hairbands on our wrists!





And yes; we have to wear skirts and stuff too. But we're worse. We have to wear blazers which make us look like WATERMELONS. Yup, that's right. WATERMELONS. Our blazers are striped green! And btw, they're freaking hot to wear.





We can't even bring soft drinks or any other drink except water upstairs to our classes. Or we'll get fined for that, too. Even cute little totally-not-dangerous-at-all metal rulers which can be used by little kindergartners can be confiscated.





And let me continue the hand phone story. Not only do they confiscate hand phones, they'll also give us an immediate 30 dollar fine! Plus, we can't get it back even if our parents collect it. No, we can only BUY it back for 100 BUCKS at the END OF THE YEAR.





So, stop complaining. I'm not actually complaining; I'm just proving all my points that you have no right to complain. So shut up and just deal with not painting your nails. It's not a big deal.
