Don't use weird synthetic paints, they will dry out your nails and cause them to crack and split! Use stuff that is only for nails.
It IS possible to use synthetic paints, but very bad for your nails.

Judging from your picture, I would say the palest, softest whisper of a pink shade you can find. Not clear, but sheer color.

Since your nails are short, I would go with a pale pink, or sheer shade. That would compliment them the most. When you put a harsh shade like red on your nails, it can make you more self conscious. I keep the harsh and crazy shades for my toes, and keep the pale, sheer, or shimmery pales for the hands.

Some guys do, but that doesn't necessarily mean they are gay so if you see it don come to conclusions, Some guys also wear black nail polish and dark nailpolishes.

When I was a child in the south and forced to attend a strict christian church, the women were not allowed to show any part of their body in public except their hands and face, we were not even allowed to dance at school, all because somehow someone thought it was sinful to do so. For example, in the town I lived in many years ago, there was a teenaged girl who used to paint her finger nails black, wore all black clothing, black make-up, dyed her hair black- the works.
She distinguished herself by the image she projected which was one of non-conformity and rebellion, on two seperate occasions. The first was when she caught her long black robe on fire while burning a bible out in a small section of woods at midnight during one of her bouts of anti-God mania bs, and another when she was charged with cruelty against animals for killing a black cat at during yet another of her mid-night outings in the woods.
She slit its throat with a sharp knife while sacrificing it to her ';witch guide';.
Gee- I can't imagine why such people are looked upon with such sore disfavor by the normal folks.
They are just being silly - painting your nails black just looks ugly on most people and it is very goth, so if you are not being goth, there is no point in it. It is not as ugly when people with very dark skin tones do it, but on most white people it just looks lame. If you do paint your nails, they should at least be in good condition and have a decent length to them. If they just look small and square, I would use a plain or neutral nail color.

I'm in my forties and I've painted my nails black for over twenty years! Not all the time, and typically I used the black as a background for floral designs.

it is an appearance thing with me. if the nails are painted; keep them painted and neat. when there is chips or growth that shows a partial painted nail it looks bad.
if there is no paint it is ok. just as long as there is no dirt under the nails.

My guy thinks painted finger nails look dirty, no matter what the color unless it's clear and you can't see it. Now mind you, he is also the same guy who loves it when I paint my toe nails, preferably something somewhat dark, just not red.

I have maybe worn nail polish twice in my marriage but one weekend this summer we had a family trip planned and i went and had my nails done. My husband was nothing but compliments. Kept saying things like ';never knew toes were so sexy.'; Needless to say i keep em painted on a regular basis now. He also seems to prefer pinks.

I feel bad, but I told him when I get old and start needing it I will start, but right now for someone young, you look nice natural while you can still pull it off!

Does anyone think taking a 6 yr old girl to a nail salon or even painting her nails regularly is normal?
If she is only there to get her nails painted like her mommy and not getting fake nails than yes, I think it is fine. I take my 6 1/2 yrs.old daughter to the salon to get her hair done regularly because she is more girly than I and it is good Girl time.She really tells me what is going on with her and what she thinks about things.I want that to continue through her life, to keep check on her and what is going on with her and her thoughts about everything in her life.I think women should do more with there little girls, and especially things that make them feel special and pretty, and give them girl time with the women in their lives. My sister takes my daughter to get her nails painted sometimes when my sister is getting her nails done. My daughter glows for days,and talks about all the things they talked about and how special it made her feel.I think it is great!Does anyone think taking a 6 yr old girl to a nail salon or even painting her nails regularly is normal?
